(2024). Malawi Secondary Education Expansion for Development (SEED) Impact Evaluation Midline Report. Chapel Hill, NC, USA: Data for ImpactAbstract: The Malawi Secondary Education Expansion for Development (SEED) activity is a $90 million commitment from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) for urban expansion and rural construction of Community Day Secondary Schools (CDSSs). Data for Impact (D4I) is conducting an evaluation of the SEED activity to understand whether there is an impact on SEED communities. This mixed methods impact evaluation covers a range of development outcomes, including the impact of SEED on children who are enrolled in Standard 7 in primary schools at baseline in rural SEED CDSS catchment areas. The outcomes evaluated include educational outcomes; sexual behaviors; water, sanitation, and hygiene behaviors; and child safety. This report analyzes the findings of the impact evaluation at midline to determine whether the indicators are oriented towards SEED's key outcomes and provides recommendations for the activity moving forward.Shortname: SR-24-220Author(s): Kristen Brugh, Gustavo Angeles, Chrissie Thakwalakwa, Jessica Fehringer, Tawonga Mwase-Vuma, Milissa Markiewicz, McPherry Kuntembwe, Dadirai Mkombe, Janine Kayange, Liz Millar, Becky Wilkes, Ting Chen, Esme Kadzamira, and Sam ManthaluYear: 2024Language: EnglishRegion(s): MALAWIFiled under: education, GBV, Malawi, midline, PEPFAR, Report, Reproductive Health
