D4I is collaborating with the US Census Bureau and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in updating maternal mortality estimation guidance and providing technical assistance to countries in how to use census to provide maternal mortality estimates through the inclusion of pregnancy-related questions, implement best practices in data collection and use, and issues to consider and potential problems using census data. In Mozambique, D4I supported the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
