Moldova Study Visit to Austria Enables Knowledge Sharing From January 15–18, 2024, Moldovan delegates traveled to Vienna, Austria, for a study visit to exchange knowledge of European practices of collecting, analyzing, and using disaggregated data to facilitate the development and monitoring of social policies, as well as promoting equity and inclusion in the governance process.
Children’s Safety in the Digital Environment: Study Results from Moldova On September 30, 2024, D4I hosted a webinar about the safety of children in Moldova in the digital environment. The presenters shared study results to provide a comprehensive understanding of how children, particularly vulnerable children, access and use the internet and their knowledge and experiences in the digital environment.
Strengthening Diverse Capacities through Diverse Approaches at Partner Universities Data for Impact (D4I), funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), supports countries to generate and use high-quality data to improve their programs, policies, and—ultimately—health outcomes. D4I also strengthens the technical and organizational capacity of local organizations and actors to collect, analyze, and use data to support their sustainable development. One successful approach D4I has adopted involved capacity strengthening of universities in Armenia and Moldova, Bangladesh, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, and Malawi.
Institutionalization of Social Work M&E Courses in Moldova and Armenia D4I has implemented small grants with institutions in Moldova and Armenia to develop pre- and in-service monitoring and evaluation (M&E) training within their social work curricula, with the goal of strengthening the social service workforce’s capacity to generate and use evidence for decision-making.
Better Data Means Better Policy to Support Persons with Disabilities in Moldova D4I, which supports countries to generate and use high quality data, has been supporting the Moldovan government to identify data gaps, gather disability data specific to Ukrainian refugees, and introduce performance management indicators in public administration to ensure that people with disabilities receive benefits and services more efficiently.
Moldova Data Review Room Launches On February 24, 2023, USAID Moldova, the government of Moldova, and D4I launched a Data Review Room within the Moldova Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (MOLSP) in Moldova’s capital of Chișinău. The new facility is designed to serve as a central hub of the Ministry’s response to the refugee crisis as well as a platform to anticipate and prepare for future emergencies.
